The University of Wisconsin has finally digitalized a 1728 First Edition Chambers's Cyclopaedia! You now no longer need to spend thousands of dollars to have this marvel in you own home, you can find the whole thing online and its FREE! I know I can hardly believe it myself. The pages are available in image and TEXT form! This means you can now search the entire contents of the Cyclopaedia for any word or phrase... what a great idea, what a fantastic luxury, the electronic age is at last bearing some worthwhile fruit. So without any further ranting, let us proceed now to the links....

Chambers's Cyclopaedia 1728, First Edition, Contents and search

Although UWDC have done a great job on this it is still a bit unwieldy, the plates, for example are not easy to find, they are not listed separately, nor shown in the table of contents and even if they were, a better system would be to show them as collections of reduced images linked to enlargements. I have searched through the UWDC files to find all of the plates, and present the collection here on 4 pages, with the images linked back to the UWDC enlargements:
